In endangered species, there is a car with a hoarse voice, a car capable of waking an entire neighbourhood to the sound of its start only after the insertion of its magnificent crystal start key. This car has neither four legs nor two wings but has twelve V-shaped cylinders producing 575 horsepower without breathing assistance.
I drove the Aston Martin Vanquish Volante, which is one of the most beautiful GTs in the world.
The Vanquish Volante is the new Aston Martin’s spearhead because it holds the biggest evolutions of the brand in recent years.
With such an engine under the hood, it's hard to be reasonable. It is part of one of the oldest V12s in current production. But we must not forget that the Vanquish is a GT before it is a sports car.
It weighs no less than 1,700 kg despite its carbon fibre bodywork and aluminium chassis. Its line is perfect, mixing muscle and elegance.
Its hood being very imposing, it tends to be sucked inside the bend. It is therefore important not to have too heavy a foot on the gas pedal to avoid oversteering.
As far as braking is concerned, the Vanquish is equipped with a ceramic carbon disc, which allows the car to slow down well despite its high weight.
The interior and finish seem to be improving compared to the old models with perfect attention to detail. The compressed carbon, the hand-stitched leather paddles and the alcantara roof sky remind us that this is an exceptional car.

The driving position is quite good and the seats are surprisingly soft. The new touch centre console is much clearer than the one with multiple buttons on older models. The information system has been redesigned, the GPS remains a dated model with outdated performance.
Fortunately for the rest, the equipment is quite complete, with electric seats, parking assistance and this Bang & Olufsen 13-speaker sound system with 1000 watts.
The only regret of this convertible is the lack of neck heating. But we must remember that this English car has an innate charm that makes her very attractive.
